WoOT! Rachelle Leah and Playboy?

•August 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

As you all know Miss Rachelle has posed for a Playboy shoot before, but it was of the fully clothed variety, but MMARated has learned that she plans on doing another shoot of the other variety.

Here’s the article.

Remember a few months ago when we discussed the possibility of former UFC Octagon Girl and current “UFC All Access” host (does that show still exist?) Rachelle Leah posing in Playboy magazine? Well, here’s a nice little update for ya:

When the news came out that Leah would be featured in the magazine there was some question as to whether she would be, you know, baring it all. After all, she did appear in the October 2006 edition of Playboy as a “Babe of the Month” which meant she was, you know, fully clothed.

Well, fear not, as MMARated.com has learned that Leah’s pictorial will be of the naked variety. And you better act now because you only have three more months to line up outside your local magazine shop as her issue hits newsstands in November.

Another Concert For Affliction?

•August 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Is Affliction trying to start their own MMA Promotion or a Music Promotion Label?  Last event it was Megadeath now its Ozzy Osbourne?  They said they wanted to venture into MMA, but with their concerts going on, I do not see how the fans can actually pay attention.  To be honest when I watched their last event every time Megadeath came on all the people in my house groaned and got up and went and did something else.

What’s Next for the UFC Light Weight Division?

•August 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well, since BJ has put his LW fighting schedule on hold until he can get his win over GSP it looks like the rest of the LW division isn’t waiting for him.  It’s been confirmed by MMAWeekly.com that Kenny “Kenflo” Florian will be facing Joe “Daddy” Setevenson in November.

MMAWeekly.com has confirmed with sources close to the fight that Florian will likely return on Nov. 15 and face former “Ultimate Fighter” Season 2 winner Joe Stevenson in a pivotal 155-pound match-up.

It’s good to see that some fighters are more interested in fighting than making a name for theirselves…

So What Does Dana Really Think of Tim Sylvia..

•August 20, 2008 • Leave a Comment

In an article posted at Yahoo! Sports it quotes Dana saying:

“But we all have to thank him for getting rid of Tim Sylvia. He’d been stinking out the joint the last couple of years and Fedor did everyone a favor by beating him so easily and getting rid of him.”

Hmm, go on and tell us what you really think Dana, no holding back.  Seriously, this article about Fedor but Dana White finds yet another way to steal some of the spotlight off the current top heavy weight.

Tito Ortiz and Affliction in Talks

•August 13, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well, now that it can be official,  Tito and Affliction are officially in negotiating talks.  MMAWeekly.com has a little exerpt on this for their daily news.  Apparently Tito has more demands than most other fighters.  Wonder how that’s so?  What have you done lately Tito?  Well, besides impregnate someone that was thought to be unable to become pregnant.

Arianny and Roger No Longer Together

•August 13, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well, I guess my speculation about something being wrong with Arianny was true afterall.  It seems that Miss Arianny is no longer on speaking terms with Roger, and that’s all she will say.  In an interview with Ariel from MMARated.com she comments on their relationship:

AH: What did you think of Roger Huerta’s performance against Kenny Florian?

AC: It was OK.

AH: And what about the rumors that you had falling out with Roger. Are those true?

AC: I wish the best for everybody including him but we are no longer on speaking terms. We are no longer friends.

AH: Wow. What happened?

AC: No comment.

AH: Why are you not on speaking terms?

AC: No comment

Well, something must be going on for her not to have been seen on camera walking around the octagon and for Roger’s poor performance.  Roger, whatever you did apologize.  Roger, whatever she did aplogize.  Someone such as Miss Arianny is not worth losing.

UFC 87 Review

No question of who the winners were of the matches for this event.  Whether it was a straight up submission or (T)KO or a brutal domination, it was final.

Huerta vs. Kenflo while still an entertaining fight was not up to my expectations.  Huerta came out flat and did not seem himself until halfway through round 3.  We saw none of his wild stand up brawling, but we did get to see his slick escapes a few times.  Florian used a technical game, a washed up version of Machida’s, to put Huerta’s undefeated UFC track record at a end.

Wonder what was keeping Huerta back?  On a side note, his supposed honey, Arianny Celeste, was in her seat the entire event.  Was she sick or was there another reason?

Kongo is an entirely different class than his opponent Dan Evensen and just showed that to be true in their match.  I am guessing Kongo felt the same way claiming in his post-fight interview he was wasting his time with his current opponents and that he needed a “tit”le shot.  I am sorry, but I had to laugh everytime I heard “tit”le shot.

Utter domination is what comes to mind for the Lesnar vs. Herring fight.  I think Brock surprised many people from the opening.  From his flying knee and straight right to his complete ground control of Herring, there is no doubt Mr. Lesnar is for realy.  After this fight who can disagree?  After what was probably one of the worst lopsided fights in UFC history Brock went on to a unanimous decision while Herring went on to the hospital.

GSP showed why he is the champ in his fight against Fitch.  While fitch is no slouch, GSP was just on an entirely different playing field than Fitch.  Fitch showed how big his heart and never give up attitude was in this fight.  Coming back after the first round to be able to press the action was a huge feat on his part.  Sorry BJ, do not think you can handle the new GSP.

Quick recap of UFC 87:

-Georges St. Pierre def. Jon Fitch by unanimous decision (50-43, 50-44, 50-44)

-Brock Lesnar def. Heath Herring by unanimous decision (30-26 on all cards)

-Rob Emerson def. Manny Gamburyan by KO at 0:12, R1

-Kenny Florian def. Roger Huerta by unanimous decision (30-27 on all cards)

-Demian Maia def. Jason MacDonald by submission (rear naked choke) at 2:44, R3

-Tamdan McCrory def. Luke Cummo by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

-Cheick Kongo def. Dan Evensen by TKO (strikes on the ground) at 4:55, R1

-Jon Jones def. Andre Gusmao by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 30-27)

-Chris Wilson def. Steve Bruno by Unanimous Decision (30-27) on all cards

-Ben Saunders def. Ryan Thomas by submission (armbar) at 2:28, R2

Tito Still Free?

•August 6, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Well apparently Tito jumped the gun on this one.  According to MMAWeekly.com Affliction’s COO, Micheal Cohen, has stated

“Donald Trump, myself and Tito engaged in a conversation,” said Cohen about the potential deal with Ortiz. “There was nothing substantive that was discussed other than that we are interested in sitting down with him, which we are planning on doing in the very near future, to discuss with him the opportunity to join the family of Affliction fighters.”

Apparently Tito is all talk.  What else is new?  Let’s what and see how this one unfolds, it could be interesting.

Meeting Captain America

•August 6, 2008 • Leave a Comment

On Tuesday my girlfriend and I got the chance to meet Randy Couture at his Cincinnati book signing.  It was a day to remember.  Not only did I have to climb to top of Cardew Tower (all 49 stories), I got to meet Captain America himself.  The event was held at Joseph-Beth bookstore, where Tito had his signing a few months before.

While waiting to meet RandyI was somewhat anxious.  We drove more than 4 hrs. to meet this man, a living legend in the sport of MMA.  While I am not a fan of Randy’s I due respect him.  As each person before us ticked off I got a little bit more giddy.  Finally WHAM!  There he is, The Natural, Captain America, Randy Couture himself.  He looked skinnier in person, and actually looked like he would be a nice grandpa to have.  He indeed was quiet spoken and respectful like every has said.  Event though he was tired he still showed enthusiasm to meet his fans.  When he posed for a picture with me he didn’t stay behind his pedestal or stay seating like some fighters, he actually came from around it and pulled me tight next to him.

After meeting the man I am now a fan of the legend too.  Nothing can change your mind more than actually meeting the man.

Tito to Once Again Work For Mr. Trump, i.e. Affliction

•August 6, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Catchy title eh?  Well, I thought so.  Anyways Tito is no longer obligated by his contract to the UFC and has recently announced he is headed to Affliction.  Mr. Ortiz reports that it is a “ground-breaking record contract.”

Ortiz has stated that his first bout will indeed be against Babalu.

Ortiz also hinted that, in addition to Sobral, he wants a rematch with Frank Shamrock. He also said a move up to the heavyweight division, one in which Affliction has half of the world’s top-10 fighters, could happen.
Ortiz credited Affliction executive Donald Trump, whom Ortiz met while a contestant on “The Celebrity Apprentice,” as a major reason he signed with the rookie promotion. He said EliteXC and the American Fight League had also contacted him with offers.

Hmm, moving up to HW division?  What’s this I smell?
